Zone Map Editor
The zone map editor provides a visual interface for defining your delivery coverage area. Zones appear as colored overlays on an interactive map, making it easy to see coverage gaps, overlapping areas, and the geographic distribution of your delivery network.
BackOffice supports multiple levels of zone definition, from broad regional boundaries down to precise street-level polygons. You can mix and match levels within a single zone configuration to handle the complex geographic realities of Swiss distribution.

Polygon Drawing
For areas where postal codes or city boundaries do not accurately represent your delivery territory, the polygon drawing tool lets you trace custom shapes directly on the map. Click to place vertices, and the system creates a precise boundary that follows streets, rivers, highways, or any natural border.
Polygons are essential for handling geographic exceptions. A classic Swiss example is the commune of Celigny — a Geneva exclave entirely surrounded by the canton of Vaud. Standard canton-based zoning would miss it, but a custom polygon ensures it is included in the Geneva delivery zone where it logistically belongs.
Enclave handling: Switzerland's complex cantonal geography includes several exclaves and enclaves. The polygon tool lets you draw precise boundaries for communities like Celigny (GE), Busingen (DE in CH), or Campione d'Italia (IT in CH) — ensuring every delivery address falls into the correct zone.
Vertex-by-Vertex
Click on the map to place vertices. Close the shape to create a polygon boundary with exact coordinates.
Overlay Stacking
Layer multiple polygons for overlapping zones. Priority rules determine which zone wins for a given address.
Edit Vertices
Drag existing vertices to adjust zone boundaries. Add or remove points to refine the shape over time.
GeoJSON Import
Import zone boundaries from GeoJSON files if you have existing geographic data from another system.
Time Windows
Each delivery zone can have one or more time windows that define when deliveries are available. Time windows control what customers see when selecting a delivery slot in Supply Now, and they determine how Fleet Planner schedules routes.
Configure different schedules for different days of the week — for example, morning delivery (06:00-12:00) on Monday, Wednesday, and Friday, but afternoon delivery (13:00-18:00) on Tuesday and Thursday. You can also define blackout dates for holidays or seasonal closures.

Driver Assignment
Assign one or more drivers to each delivery zone. When orders arrive for a zone, the assigned driver appears as the default option during order processing. If multiple drivers are assigned to the same zone, Fleet Planner distributes orders based on capacity, vehicle type, and route optimization.
Driver-zone assignments can be permanent (a driver always covers Zone A) or scheduled (Driver X covers Zone A on Monday/Wednesday, Driver Y covers it on Tuesday/Thursday). This flexibility supports rotating schedules, part-time drivers, and vacation coverage.
Fleet Planner sync: Zone-driver assignments defined in BackOffice are automatically available in Fleet Planner. When building routes, Fleet Planner respects these assignments as constraints while optimizing for distance and time.
