A delayed arrival breaks every job behind it. What matters is whether the schedule adjusts on its own or a dispatcher rebuilds it by phone.

A pickup booked for 14:20 is not really booked for 14:20. It is booked for whenever the aircraft actually arrives, and nobody knows that until the day. Between the booking and the kerb sit a delayed inbound leg, a gate change, and a passport queue, and each one moves the same car.
The cost lands twice. A driver who turns up at the original time waits unpaid at the terminal, and the job behind that one starts late. Repeat it across a dozen arrivals on a Friday afternoon and the fleet spends the rest of the day chasing a schedule that stopped being true at lunchtime.
