Working out driver pay from a timesheet every month
When drivers earn by the hour, by the trip, or both, working out the monthly total means reconciling shift records and completed rides by hand.
The problem
A driver on a regular weekly shift is paid by the hour. A driver who only works peak Saturdays is paid per trip. A third works both patterns in the same month. None of that is unusual, but reconstructing it from a paper timesheet or a trip log means recalculating, every month, how much is owed under each rate before anyone can be paid.
The reconciliation gets harder as the fleet grows, not easier. A dispatcher who can say exactly who drove what last Tuesday still has to turn that into a number for payroll, and a mixed pay structure means the same spreadsheet has to carry two different formulas without mixing them up for one driver.
How 8Move handles it
Hours worked are tracked automatically from shift start to end, as part of Driver Management - nobody re-enters them from a timesheet. Driver pay is calculated using an hourly rate, a per-trip rate, or a mix, configured once per driver, so a shift driver and a per-trip driver are each paid on their own terms without a separate manual process for either.
A monthly payroll summary can be exported for use in accounting or payroll software, built from the hours and trips already on record rather than reassembled from scratch. The system also prevents over-scheduling beyond legal driving limits, helping operators avoid scheduling violations before payroll even runs.
What this looks like by industry
The same problem reads differently depending on the work. These are the segments it hits hardest.
