Default Playlist Fallback

Screens never go blank. When no broadcast is scheduled or active, the player automatically switches to the configured Default Playlist.

Automatic fallback

The player continuously evaluates "what should I be showing right now?". When no scheduled broadcast is active, it switches to the Default Playlist automatically — no manual intervention required.

Fallback resolution order

  • broadcast_on_personalActive broadcastIf a broadcast is scheduled and active, it plays
  • alertAlert broadcastAlert Broadcasts override all other content at priority 10
  • repeat_onDefault PlaylistFalls back here when nothing else is scheduled
  • blockBlank screenOnly if no Default Playlist is configured

Player detail placement

On the Player detail page, the Default Playlist card sits above the list of assigned broadcasts. Operators can assign or change the Default Playlist without touching the broadcast schedule.

A clear indicator shows whether a Default Playlist is configured — screens without one show a warning badge on the device list.

Per-group defaults

Default Playlists cascade — a device inherits its group's default unless it has its own. Groups inherit the client default unless they have their own. This means one playlist can serve an entire location, with exceptions at the device level.

repeat_on

Typical setup: one Default Playlist per location group (e.g., "Geneva — Brand Loop"), with device-level overrides only for screens with specific content requirements.
